Personal Trainer Sydney

Overview
According to Fitness Australia, there are over 28,000 registered personal trainers in Australia. Of these, approximately 30% reside in NSW and of these the majority could be classed as personal trainers in Sydney.

If you are looking for some personal training in Sydney and you are reading this article, it is more than likely due to a Google search involving keywords such as "personal trainer Sydney" or "personal trainer Sydney CBD."
I would like to offer you my opinion, despite the potential bias, on the three most important things to look for in a personal trainer. That way, regardless of whether you choose to engage my personal training services or continue on your google expedition you will be well equipped to make the right decision.
1. You should like the person.
The reality is that unless you are James Packer and train outdoors with your earphones during personal training sessions, you will need to talk to your trainer. It makes it a lot more enjoyable if you have shared interests, a similar sense of humour and can have a decent conversation about the things in life that you enjoy.
2. Experience and qualifications.
Unfortunately, the industry has dropped its standards regarding the minimum requirements to become 'qualified.' Thus, some people can begin training clients after only eight weeks in a classroom. While you certainly don't need to be a genius to count to 10, a high level of qualification helps when you start to encounter injuries or plateaus with your training. Pattern recognition develops over many years and becomes an increasingly important attribute in your trainer when your body doesn't respond to the textbook way of thinking. Experience ensures you receive the right advice.
3. Convenience and flexibility.
Long-term compliance with exercise and nutrition programs correlates highly with convenience. You may have the best program in the world, but it means nothing if it is too difficult for you to execute. Therefore, it helps to choose someone who is close to your home or workplace, and it helps if they can actually understand your life schedule in order to set plans that are sustainable for the long term. If you work in the Sydney CBD then you should find someone located in the city.

Why Personal Training works?
Approximately 2% of the population are naturally driven to exercise consistently. For the remaining 98%, exercise is hard. Personal training can help provide you with accountability. Turning up in the first place is more than half the battle. If you're one of the lucky 2% who bounce out of bed chomping at the bit to exercise then you may not need a personal trainer to provide accountability, but you may want one to optimise your training routines. A good personal trainer can help you answer important questions such as:
  • How often should I train?
  • What exercises or stretches should I do and in what order should I do them?
  • How many sets?
  • How many reps?
  • How much rest should I have in between sets?
  • What tempo should I perform the movement?
