I can help you...

Lose weight, gain strength and muscle tone, feel great & live longer.

Let me help you save time and money - I'll make sure you avoid the common mistakes people make and clear up any confusion you have about the 'best' way to do things. If you've been out of the routine for a while,
I'll keep you accountable to the plans we set.

My Tailored Approach

A holistic, tailored approach is key to making long-term changes, and exercise is not the only consideration. We should also consider other important lifestyle factors which I can advise you on such as:

- Nutrition
- Rest and recovery
- Mindset

We will do this together, taking into account the challenges you face with work, family and social commitments. I have my own private studio in the heart of the Sydney CBD which means you can exercise in peace and quiet. Learn more about Personal Training Sydney CBD.

Location

My private personal training studio is located in the Dymocks Building on George St in the heart of the Sydney CBD. We have a shower and change room onsite.

Pricing

Most people train with me for 45 minutes and the standard cost is $99 which is all inclusive of access to our space, programming etc. I've got different packages available based on the frequency of training but we can chat more about this at the initial consult.

Next steps...

If you've got 15-20 minutes, let's tee up a time whereby we can have a phone call or you can come in and see the studio and chat with me face-to-face. This won't cost you anything.

Over the years, I have worked with 100's of busy corporate professionals - everyone has come with their own set of challenges to overcome and goals to achieve.

My advice is to book in an initial consult today!

Bonus bits
Here's a look at some of my favourite studies which influence my personal training:

1. Quantity and Quality of Exercise for Developing and Maintaining Cardiorespiratory, Musculoskeletal, and Neuromotor Fitness in Apparently Health Adults: Guidelines for Prescribing Exercise.

I like this paper because it discusses how exercise decreases the risk of developing coronary heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, and some forms of cancer such as colon and breast cancers. Furthermore, it discusses how much exercise is required to achieve these health benefits. For example, l
arge prospective cohort studies of diverse populations show that moderate-intensity physical activity for about 150 min/wk or vigorous-intensity physical activity is associated with lower rates of CVD and premature mortality. You could do 1-2 sessions per week with a Personal Trainer Sydney CBD and then a little bit extra by yourself to achieve this goal.

2. Weight-Loss Outcomes: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Weight-Loss Clinical Trials with a Minimum 1-Year Follow-Up

I like this paper because it clearly shows where exercise fits in the scheme of non-surgical approaches to weight-loss. Rather than pushing exercise as a weight loss panacea, I use this study to educate clients that it is just one piece of the puzzle. As you can see from the graph below, diet is more important for weight loss but diet and exercise together are even better. For those with a BMI >27, we can also discuss short term boosters such as very-low energy diets and weight loss medication to help you build some momentum with your weight loss efforts.

3. The Healthy Eating Plate

The Harvard School of Public Health is at the forefront of research into nutrition. I like their approach to nutrition because it is evidence-based and free from commercial interests and biases. It places an emphasis on nutritional quality and consuming fruits and vegetables as well as challenging long-held beliefs around milk and carbohydrate consumption.

4. Effect of Low-Fat vs Low-Carbohydrate Diet on 12-Month Weight Loss in Overweight Adults and the Association With Genotype Pattern or Insulin Secretion. The DIETFITS Randomized Clinical Trial.

There's nothing more entertaining than watching people argue over whether low-fat or low-carb is better. I've known for a while that it doesn't really matter. This study conducted by Stanford University is great for a number of reasons:
  • They recruited a large number of participants
  • They monitored them over a long period of time
  • They were very clever in how they monitored compliance to the diets
What was also interesting about the study was that they showed that within each dietary group there was a large amount of variability with the amount of weight loss. This adds to the idea that the best diet is the one that works for you and the one you can stick to in the long run.
5. STRESS RELIEF: The Role of Exercise in Stress Management

Many clients I work with experience stress as a result of the demands of their work or interpersonal conflict. This article gives a good overview of stress and the role exercise can play in its management. Most people experience a positive effect on stress as a result of regular exercise with most of the literature supporting a volume of about 150min/week. Personal training has the added benefit of someone to talk to about the issues you face and I often find myself acting as a sounding board.
